Beach to Bush Trike Tours

Beach to Bush Trike Tours (BBTT) is an authorised service provider and licenced tour operator.

Point To Point Authorisation number BSP-413567

Our primary tour rider, Gray Connelly, is a licenced and experienced motorbike rider and driver for 42 years. Police check and insurance are all clear and current.

While our trike is safer than a two-wheeled motorcycle, it is still an open vehicle and very different to sitting in an enclosed car. We therefore have a duty of care to ensure the safety of our passengers.  Please familiarise yourself with our safety guidelines before booking a tour with us.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can anyone ride as a passenger on your trike tours?

BBTT will try our best to accommodate most passengers. However, there are legal and safety restrictions that must be followed. BBTT are unable to take the following passengers:

  • Children under the age of 8 years

  • Children between the age of 8 and 12 years who are not accompanied by an adult

  • Anyone who presents as intoxicated from drugs or alcohol

  • Anyone who exhibits rude or abusive behaviour

  • Anyone not in control of their behaviour who may present a danger to the rider and their control of the trike

  • Anyone who cannot wear a helmet or who refuse to wear one

  • Anyone who is unable to physically reach the footrests with their feet

  • Anyone not wearing long pants and enclosed footwear

  • More than 2 passengers at a time, and if the combined passenger weight exceeds 240 kg

Will helmets and jackets be provided?

We have a limited number of helmets and jackets of various sizes for our passengers to wear if required.
Our helmets are fitted with Bluetooth communication devices so passengers can communicate conveniently with the rider and each other.

What do I wear?

We suggest passengers wear suitably protective clothing i.e. long pants and enclosed footwear.
It is advisable to wear a jacket for comfort in cooler weather and for protection from the  wind.

What if it is raining or there is bad weather?

BBTT will make a decision on the day of the tour.  If the rider feels that it is not safe to proceed due to inclement weather, the tour will be cancelled or rescheduled. Please refer to our cancellation policy for further information.

Are there age restrictions?

Children over the age of 8 years can travel on our trike as a passenger, provided they can reach the footrests as a safety requirement.
Children aged 8 to 12 years are to be accompanied by an adult.
We are happy not to have a set upper limit to the age of our passengers provided they meet the safety guidelines.

Are there weight restrictions?

For the safety of both the passengers and rider, and to comply with insurance and vehicle design requirements, the trike has a total passenger weight limit of 240 kg and no more than 2 passengers at a time.

Can you take the tours at night?

This is not something we recommend, mainly for safety reasons (e.g. to avoid wildlife). Visibility of the scenery is also low at night so the experience is not likely to be as enjoyable. BBTT will, however, consider short evening trips for special events such as school formals, weddings or to view Christmas light displays.

Can you take people with disabilities?

BBTT is committed to accommodating the needs of all passengers including those with a disability. As an authorised tour operator we have a duty of care to ensure the safety of our passengers. For a safe and enjoyable experience, there are some specific safety guidelines that need to be met.

Intellectually impaired passengers must be able to comprehend situational changes, follow instructions for their safety and be able to control their behaviours so the rider can safely control the trike. It is preferred that a carer or guardian travel with these passengers.

Passengers with physical disabilities need to be able to sit up unaided and have sufficient neck muscle strength to support the weight of a helmet. Bear in mind that sudden braking and cornering are strong movements and can result in added stress on neck muscles.

We encourage visually impaired passengers to tour with us provided a support person travels with them on the trike, and all other safety requirements are met (such as being able to reach the footrest).

Hearing impaired passengers must have a support person travel with them that can communicate the safety instructions before riding on the trike.

If it is apparent to the rider during the safety brief prior to the tour that a passenger cannot safely ride because they do not meet these safety guidelines, the tour will not proceed and a refund may not be provided.

What payment do you accept?

Payment is made at the time of booking through our online booking system. Our online booking system accepts all major credit cards (VISA, MASTERCARD, AMEX) and full payment is required to confirm all bookings.

What if we have to cancel?

Please refer to our CANCELLATION POLICY

We will meet at your place of accommodation or at an agreed meeting point in Port Macquarie. Please allow 15 minutes prior to your tour for a safety brief and fitting of helmets and jackets.
